Revised Class Structure and Voting

It has become clear that at the SARR the same cars have been winning their classes year after year. Whilst winning cars owners must be commended it is felt that this could discourage the owners of other potential winners from taking part.
Following consultation with past class winners and runners up and long discussion. the organising group, feel this situation is not in the best long term interests of a) the Rally b) the entrants c) the standard of Classic Rovers and Land Rovers in Scotland, and that a change in both the class structure and voting system of the Rally is required.
Master Class
In order to address this situation, from 2010 the Rally will have an additional class. The class will be known as “The SARR Master Class”
In 2010 “The Master Class” will be made up from any car which won its class at SARR 2007, SARR 2008, or SARR 2009.

In subsequent years the class will be made up from the previous 3 years class winners. e.g. In 2011 the class winners from 2007 return to compete in their normal class.

The cars will compete against each other in a static display.

The class winner will go forward to compete for “Car of the Show” award

A specialist concours judge appointed by the Rally organising group will determine the award winner in the “Master Class” and the “Car of the Show” award.

Self Judging
There are few entrants who have detailed knowledge of the full range of Rover and Land Rover vehicles on show. Asking entrants to select a winner in a dozen classes, some of which they have little knowledge along with the recording and counting of all of the voting slips places a tremendous burden on everyone’s time. Many entrants abstain from voting for classes in which they have no understanding.

To improve the voting knowledge base along with the administration of the Rally from 2010 there will be change to the self judging system for class awards.

Class entrants will only select a class winner for the class in which they have entered a car.
Class entrants will select the winner of a new award known as “The Entrants Choice” – this will replace “The Committee Choice” award.

Awards
Class winners will receive the class trophy and the first three places will be awarded rosettes.

Car of the show
Class Winners be eligible to go forward into the “Car of the Show” judging and the “Master Class” at the following year’s SARR.

SVVF Representation

If the vehicle is eligible Class winners, winners of the “Master Class” and “Car of the Show” will also be nominated to represent the Scottish All Rover Rally at the following year’s Scottish Vintage Vehicle Federation Champion of Champions event.

Voting
For the class awards entrants should vote taking into account both condition and originality of the vehicles on display.. For the “Entrants Choice” award, simply vote for the car you wish you could be driving home (apart from your own of course!). Entrants can select their “Entrants Choice” from any of the cars in any of the classes.
